THE SYCAMORE KITCHEN
Los Angeles, CA
As a day for Americans, and even others all over the world, we will never forget the losses from 9/11.
Sadly it is also the birthday of my boyfriend........ so we decided to go to our favorite go to brunch spot in LA. For brunch expect the line to be long... sometimes out the door. Today we got lucky and only had to wait 10 minutes in line. I've been here at least 5 times and the food is always consistent which is a big deal because if there's no consistency in the kitchen then things aren't running right!
For breakfast (brunch) on Saturday's and Sunday's its from 8am-12:30am, weekdays til 11:30am.
HUNGRY MONKEYS READY TO EAT
The brunch feast.... don't forget the lattes with almond milk ;]
*DISCLAIMER*
From now on all the food pics you see will be half eaten... cause duh we were hungry.
Soup of the day was watermelon gazpacho. Super refreshing and perfect addition to the heavy meal we are about to consume.
Deviled eggs came with 4. Personally I like it a lot more rich and fatty with more mayo but this is the "light version" I guess. Won't be getting that again.
My entree: fried egg tartine (I would call it more of a toast on one of the YUMMIEST breads ever) with, spinach, arugula pesto, tomatoes, and avocado hummus. It was really healthy tasting and light even with the fried egg.
Less than half of his entree LOL: Eggs benedict with sherry honey glazed pancetta..... and some fried rosemary. The pancetta was pretty amazing... and the hollandaise sauce wasn't too heavy as you can see.
THE WARM BUCKWHEAT RICOTTA BLINTZES!
I get this dish EVERY single time I come here. You can have this on the side to share, as dessert, or even an entree as I've done in the past... THE SALTED HONEY BUTTER THOUGH WITH THE BLUEBERRIES. Really one of the best things I've ever ate.
They have a big selection of pastries so you know my fat ass had to grab some to go because we were STUFFED. I warmed up this strawberry crostada in the toaster oven for a few minutes (which I normally do with more pastries with flaky dough to make it even crunchier and yummier) IT WAS VERY GOOD. Sucks I had to share it with my boyfriend though... well it was its birthday. *sigh*
Um is it just me or does this make you want to dive headfirst into the pastry and just not give any fucks and lick it clean? Their babka made with a delicious pecan glaze was sugar overload but I LOVE SUGAR DIDN'T YOU REALIZE? (by the way I'm actually eating this right now and its 1am and I got a sudden sugar high...
We're happy because we are full, we're full because we are happy.
MEET CARLY THE DOG. She's has been to the restaurant many times because there is plenty of outdoor seating. The atmosphere was okay with her but she wasn't able to try any food. She will eat any food in sight so her opinions don't matter.
THANK YOU SYCAMORE KITCHEN!
